Kuntibhoja

A Yaduvanshi king. Kuntibhoja was the nephew of Shurasena, father of Vasudeva. He was the foster father of Kunti.

Sahadeva defeated Kuntibhoja as part of his campaign in the south as per Mahabharata Sabhaparva Chapter 31 verse 6. Kuntibhoja was present at Yudhishtira’s rajasuya as per Mahabharata Sabhaparva Chapter 34 verse 12. Kuntibhoja’s eldest son was named after him, and he had another son named Purujit as per Mahabharata Karnaparva Chapter 6 verse 22.

On the first day of the Kurukshetra war, Kuntibhoja and his sons attacked Vinda and Aravinda as per Bhishmaparva Chapter 45 verse 72. Kuntibhoja was the leader in the chakravyuha made by Dhrishtadyumna as per Mahabharata Bhishmaparva Chapter 50 verse 47. Kuntibhoja, along with Shatanika were at the ‘foot’ of the Makaravyuha built by the Pandavas as per Mahabharata Bhishmaparva Chapter 75 verse 11. Kuntibhoja had a fine horse as per Mahabharata Dronaparva Chapter 23 verse 46. Kuntibhoja fought with Alambusha as per Mahabharata Dronaparva Chapter 16 verse 183. Ashwathama killed 10 sons of Kuntibhoja as per Mahabharata Dronaparva Chapter 96 verse 18.
