  1. Ahhh..those were the days, that excessive use FWD – RWD button….using reynolds pen to rewind the cassette.

And you missed my favourite composers of those days…’Anand-Milind’ 🙂

  2. You sound like a music fiend – a kindred soul. Let me introduce you (assuming you have’nt already heard) to a couple of sultry sirens from across the oceans.
Melody Gardot is a jazzy surprise and has an interseting life story as well – look it up on internet and watch/listen to my favorite “Baby I’m a Fool” on youtube. Next is a young lady with a powerful folksy sound Brandi Carlisle again on Youtube – “The Story” is a must listen. Happy listening!

  3. Loved reading this post 🙂
Made a nostalgic journey through high school and college thanks to this post. We were definitely more experimental with music those days I think. I remember getting tortured by a bunch of lousy songs just to listen to “Sambhala Hai Maine” on the Naaraz cassette 🙂

  4. You’ve got me singing. In my mind, of course. The chords of DTPH, that lalala part.
I’ve run out of boxes to put the darn tapes in.
Now there’s you tube, I watch/ listen to stuff from the 50’s.
Loved that part about a tune bringing back a time. Lovely, that.

  5. My father owned a lot of cassettes, so many that they have their own room in my house. And it was a thorough collection. Kenny Rogers, Elvis, A-HA, Wham, Billy Joel and Heart for instance. I was never given money to splurge on my choice of music, so when I had to get my hands on any album by Pearl Jam or Whitesnake or even NKOTB I’d include it in my b’day wishlist. Now I just cant stop myself from collecting music I like. And maybe I’m slightly obsessed.

I know that the term cassette is outmoded, overcome by events and inventions and is a few generations old. But that’s my generation we’re talking about and there’s something cool and romantic about the idea of listening to music on cassettes or vinyl records. :))
