Indivaraksha

A gandharva and son of Nalanabha, chief of the vidyadharas. As per Markandeyapurana Chapter 60, Indivaraksha approached Brahmamitra to learn Ayurveda. He refused, but Indivaraksha decided to learn by watching the guru teach other students. He managed to do that for six months and, overjoyed at having been able to learn so much, shouted it out. The guru understood the situation and cursed that he would become a rakshasa in 7 days. He begged for forgiveness and the guru said that when he was struck by arrows from his own children he would regain his form. Later, when he tried to eat his own daughter Manorama, his son in law Swarochis, who had learned archery from her, defeated him, and thus he regained his original form. Indivaraksha then imparted to Swarochis the knowledge of archery he had learned from Brahmamitra.

Ida (2)

Daughter of Manu. As per Taithiriyabrahmana, once Manu got to know that the devas and asuras had conducted an agni ceremony (yajna) and sent Ida to find out whether it was done correctly. Ida found that they hadn’t done so and told Manu that his yajna shouldn’t suffer from the same faults. She volunteered to place the three agnis in the correct places. Manu agreed, started the yajna and the devas prospered.

Later, both the devas and asuras wanted Ida to align with them. Ida chose the devas and as per the Taithiriyasamhita, with her did all living beings.
