Urva

Also known as Ourva. A sage belonging to Bhrigu’s dynasty. He was the son of Chyavana and the father of Richika. He created an agni for the destruction of the three worlds, but eventually threw it into the ocean.

Urmila (2)

Daughter of Janaka and sister to Sita. She was married to Lakshmana. When Lakshmana followed Rama and Sita into the forest, she stayed back in Ayodhya. After the exile, when Lakshmana came back, two sons were born to them. The elder was Thakshaka and the younger Chhatraketu. As per Rama’s instructions, Lakshmana went east, defeated the tribals there and built a city named Agati. Thakshaka became the king there. Lakshmana then went west, defeated the natives and built a city named Chandramati. Chhatraketu became the king there.

Lakshmana was punished by Rama and drowned in the Sarayu. Urmila stepped into the pyre soon after as per Uttararamayana.

Urdhvabahu

A son of Vasishta. His mother was Urja as per Agnipurana Chapter 20. As per Mahabharata Anushasanaparva Chapter 150, he meditated in south India.

Urnayu

A gandharva, who participated in Arjuna’s birth celebrations as per Mahabharata Adiparv Chapter 122 verse 52. He was once smitten with Menaka as per Mahabharata Udyogaparva Chapter 117 verse 16.

Urnanabha

Also known as Sudarshan. A Kaurava as per Mahabharata Adiparva Chapter 67 verse 96. Bhima killed him as per Mahabharata Dronaparva Chapter 127 verse 67.
