Agrayani
According to Mahabharata Adiparva Chapter 116 verse 11, he is one of Dhritarashtra’s 100 sons. He was also known as Anuyayi.
Agrani
An Agni. According to the Mahabharata Vanaparva Chapter 221, verses 15-22,
he was the fifth son of Bhanu, an Agni and his third wife Nisha.
Agnidhra
Antecedents : Vishnu – Brahma – Marichi – Kashyapa – Vivasvan – Vaivasvatamanu – Priyavrata – Agnidhra.
Priyavrata, the son of Vaivasvatamanu married Barhishmati, the daughter of Vishwakarma. They had ten sons – Agnidhra, Idhmajihva, Yajnabahu, Mahaveera, Hiranyaretas, Ghritaprishta, Sava, Methathithi, Vitihotra, Kavi, and one daughter – Urjaswati, who was married to Shukra, and had a daughter called Devayani.
Agnidhra married a deva maiden called Purvachitti. They had nine children named Nabhi, Kimburusha, Hari, Ilavrata, Ramyaka, hiranjaya, Kuru, Bhadrasva, Ketumala. Of them, Kuru started the Kuruvansh.
According to Devibhagavata Ashtamaskanda, Agnidhra was the ruler of one of the saptadwipa called Jambudwipa. As per Bhagavata Panchamaskanda Chapter 2, once Agnidhra once sat in a cave and meditated, surviving only on air. Brahma sent an apsara named Viprachitti to distract him, and they finally got married.
Agnihotra
A sacrifice specifically done for Agni. It is said to have 2 parts – Nitya, Kamya.
Agnishvatha
This deva is one of the sapta pitrs. According to the Mahabharata Sabhaparva Chapter 11, verse 44-46, the sapta pitrs are Vairaja, Agnishvatha, Garhapatya, Somapa, Ekashringa, Chaturveda, Kala, the first 3 of whom do not have bodies. The Agnipurana Chapter 20 also mentions that Agnishvatha is born of Brahma.
